Jacksonville Jaguars (17/32)

December 22nd, 2013

Matchup:  Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans (w)

Setting:
  • Amazing seats - maybe the best we've had yet!  Row B at 45 yard line on the field level with access to the Touchdown Club House.
  • Did I mention that the tickets were extremely affordable - particularly considering the location!
  • Although it was December, it was extremely hot - over 80 degrees!
Highlights:
  • Kenny Britt waved to me
  • Rob handed out a hat to a demanding 12-year old.
Trip Memories:
  • While in Jacksonville for the first time, we visited the Landing - a cute little mall area that's a highlight in the city.
  • Not sure how we feel about the parent in front of us who attempted to control his children by threatening to "beat [them] crippled"...
  • The plane ride home on Delta was eventful with a crash-emergency landing in Washington DC. Fortunately the alarms of fire were false and everyone was safe and sound.

Tennessee Titans (11/32)

September 23, 2012

Matchup:  Tennessee Titans (w) vs. Detroit Lions

Setting

  • 300 level, but 2nd row from the aisle so great view of the field
  • Celebrating our 2-year anniversary
  • Perfect weather

Game Highlights

  • The game had replacement refs and some shady calls to say the least
  • There was a Music City Miracle flashback -- a successful lateral on kick return for a TD
  • A punt was returned for a TD
  • Pick six
  • Crazy catch by Nate Washington over the defenders head
  • With 90 seconds left in the game, the Titans are up 14 points (two TD's)... and Stafford gets hurt. In comes Shawn Hill - their backup quarterback.  Amazingly, Shawn Hill takes the Lions down the field and score a TD.
  • Next comes a successful on-side kick! Lions get the ball again
  • Next comes a few short plays and 2 seconds left in the game.  Shawn Hill throws the ball up in the air in the endzone for a Hail Mary... and the Lions catch it!!!!!  We go into Overtime!!!!
  • In OT, the Titans win but what an exciting game!

Trip Memories

  • Highly enjoyed the "Red Neck Bus Tour".
  • Visited the Country Music Hall of Fame
  • Walked Nashville and walked 2.5 miles to the game and back
Award: Best Game / Most Exciting Game

Full of Hope

I'm talking about my Titans. For those of you who missed my pun, pictured below is Chris Hope #24 and Vincent Fuller #22 of the Tennessee Titans. I don't want to jinx anyone, but as the only undefeated team in the league right now, suffering through the past few rollercoaster years has been worth it. I'm not saying we'll go 16-0 or even 18-1, but you have to be damn impressed. I bet you hadn't even heard of Hope or Fuller til now.

  • Stevers still in the suicide pool
  • Mom still in the suicide pool
  • Chance at winning 2/3 fantasy games this week
  • Jags lost

Kearse Comes Back

Jevon said he feels at home in TN, playing for the Titans. Although not the most articulate player in the league, this Defense Rookie of the Year from 1999 is welcomed back! Maybe this means another Superbowl!

What the Titan's Record Should Be

I know I've neglected to comment on my own favorite team's performance this season... The Titans... However, I am often frustrated by either my inability to watch the games here in NYC.... or to watch the Titans get robbed... or for our receivers to drop Young's passes... okay there's a lot that hurts the heart...

I know "almost" doesn't count, especially in a sport like football, but I have to argue that the Titan's record doesn't even come close to reflecting their true game performances. Let's review!

Official Record: 6 wins, 5 losses

5 Losses Include:
  • 20-22 to Indy
  • 10-13 to Tampa
  • 13-28 to Jacksonville
  • 20-34 to Denver
  • 35-6 to Cinncy

But really, the Titans outplayed the Colts in Week 2 and should have won that game. The Tampa game was also close and I really don't consider that a true loss. We were not outplayed.

I will concede the division game to jacksonville was lost the second time around (but that's just what statistically is going to happen with you play the same team so frequently) and Denver and obviously tonight the Bengals.

But that should really put us at....

8 Wins, 3 Losses

I know I'm living in dream world, but don't worry, it's only Vince's second year and we're still pulling things together. Imagine if we had Pacman this year! Our defense would be unstoppable. Next time save the dollar bills for tipping the pizza delivery guy.
