Sunday, February 5th - VIP Status
We started the day early to party the morning/afternoon away! Big Blue Travel and New York Giants Alumni hosted a takeover of The Huddle with a silent auction, buffet, open bar and celebrity madness.
Visit my tumblr blog to see a select number of NFL player celebrity photos from that weekend.

We're Going to...
Disneyland! ... for the NFL that is!
Attending a few days of Superbowl Week (ie NFL Experience and Superbowl Village)... and attending the Superbowl game on Sunday, February 5th.
We are so excited with mild reservations about Steve (a patriots' fan) surreptitiously attending with the Big Blue Travel (@bigbluetravel) - ie 100% hardcore Giants Fans.
We're so excited! Can't wait to go!

One of the Best Days of Football
I've never seen such an amazing playoff season! The AFC and NFC championship games were both thrillers... one of the best Sunday's of football I've ever seen.
Patriots - Baltimore
It was a real thriller... that came down to the kicker... who missed a simple field goal. The look on the Baltimore players' face was of utter astonishment.
Giants - 49ers
A second time match-up... it was the Giants' turn to prove they could fly across the country to California and take on the strong defense. A game that went into overtime - the Giants came out triumphant!
This resulted in the biggest decision for Steve and I... to go or not to go to the Super bowl. What I love about the NFL is how well they're organized to maintain a competitive balance - which also means that any give year, any given season or any given night - a new champion can be crowned. So the chance that both our teams would be in the Superbowl again seems far off. And who would want to go to the Superbowl to see someone's else team play?
... stay tuned for our decision!

The Ultimate Giants Season
This year Steve and I had Club seats for half of the NY Giants Football home games at MetLife Stadium. We strategically picked games that matched our schedule, were relevant to the Patriots (Steve's team) or were a great match up:
Giants - Miami
Giants - Buffalo
Giants - Philadelphia
Giants - Dallas (Week 17)

To Pen My Favorite Prisoner?
My friends and followers know I love Plaxico and found his prison sentence to be excessive for the crime. I was discussing this with a Fordham Law Student and came across the idea of writing to Plaxico in jail. I don't know how much mail he receives in jail, but imagine if he writes back!
Any thoughts??

Plaxico Benched?!?!?
Dear Tom,
I know Plaxico did a very very bad thing missing practice on Monday. I know you want to make an example and set the record straight. But for the love of G*d, please play Plaxico.... I have him on two of my fantasy team's and he's crucial to their success...
Thank you for your consideration.
Sarah

SO SORRY
For 10 days, instead of blogging about the NFL, I had to blog about Fashion Week for work. Therefore I have missed a whole SCHLEW of topics I wanted to talk about. Here's the quick and dirty:
1. Philly eagles: Oh, Eagles, I wish you had beat the Cowboys. But how can you when the refs no longer call facemask penalties?
2. Tom Brady: Do I need to comment? It seems like everyone else in the world already has so I'll refrain.
3. Jets: I think the past few games have proven the Jets are better with Farve, but they still suck overall.
4. Giants: Well firstly, they should have never come that close to Cinncy... and the reason they did was because they did not use Plaxico... AT ALL. WTF??!?!
5. RedSkins game: Another reason I was unavailable to blog in the last two weeks is because I was actually traveling attending a game! The Redskins - Saints game. What a fantastic game. I'll do another post with pictures. It's worth expanding on.
6. QBs of the NFL: No one is safe.
7. My Fantasy Teams: OMG, this year i have three teams... so hard to keep track of. But in one league i'm kicking ass, in another i'm sucking ass, and another is the middle of the road.
8. Suicide Pool: I'm already out. Damn you Seattle.

Strong Giants, Weak 'Skins
It is here. The football season has officially begun. The long wait ended tonight with a victory for New York. Eli, Jacobs, and my man Plaxico defended their championship title with an impressive performance. Although not a lot of TD's (which is something they'll have to fix to beat some of the more challenging teams), they scored enough to beat the 'skins.
The Washington Defense got run over by the train aka Brandon Jacobs and over-reached by Plaxico's height. The offense has decent individual players, but none of it came together, and the last 6 minutes were poorly managed. We'll see if this new coach can get the team together. The announcers seemed to think that Zorn doesn't have the experience to be a headcoach...
Time will tell.

NFL & The Republicans Compete
September 4th will be the day that Americans will decide! Will I turn on NBC at 8:30 to watch the Giants vs. the Redskins for the season's opening game... or will I watch the Republican Convention and stay up-to-date on our country's future??
For many it would be any easy decision.
But in fear of learning the true nature of our country, the whole conflict may be called off. No, I don't mean that there would be no football (that's not until 2011 - read below!!) but the NFL is considering moving the game back to a 7pm start.
More to come on this situation on Monday. :)

Giants Won The Superbowl...??
Say what?? I was just happy they beat the cowboys... seriously, who'd thunk'it? I mean, what can I say? It was heart breaking for Patriots fans... I'm not even sure there are words to describe what an incredible Superbowl that was for history. I'm sorry to all you Pat's fans (ie, 90% of my friends) but I had to attend the Giants' Day Parade. Gooooo Giants!
PS. That will not happen again for years.

My Love for Plaxico
Since Plaxico joined the Giants in 2005, I have both respected and loved him (as a fan does). He has always made great plays, worked hard, and been an incredible athlete. I felt that there was something classy & honorable, yet intense about Plaxico.

But for some reason when I started seeing Stevers, I started to receive disrespect from Stevers and his friends for my fandome of Burress. Instead, they thought I was a fool citing "his thuggery", his tendenacy to "give up on plays", and his behavior with the Steelers.
Through it all I stayed a fan and by his side. Although Stevers was pained and grimmaced when the subject came up, I never budged.
And now in 2007, playing almost all season with torn ligament in his ankle - and in many situations being the play-maker... he has man-ed up and played his heart out. You're damn straight.

Throw Your Heart Over the Wall and Your Body Will Follow
Tonight the Giants had more heart than Greenbay and are consequentially superbowl-bound. In a fist-clenching game, sitting on the floor as close to the TV as possible, I think I almost had a heart attack.
Tonight the Giants had more heart than Greenbay and are consequentially superbowl-bound. In a fist-clenching game, sitting on the floor as close to the TV as possible, I think I almost had a heart attack. My first outrage was at the "incomplete pass" call on Burress during the last 2 minutes of the first half. The booth should have at least reviewed the play. The ground caused the ball to come loose. That should have been a complete pass on the 1 yard line.
The second outrage for me came when Tynes misseds the damn field goal with 8 minutes left in the half. Bejeezus.
The third pulse-stopper was during the interception-fumble resulting in a first down on the 20 for GB! That just seems wrong.
The fourth heart attack was the second missed field goal with 3 seconds to go. Are you kidding me???????
The fifth came when Eli called "tails". You ALWAYS call heads!

Fortunately it all worked out in the end. Fantastic job by the Giants. Beautiful throws, plays, and historic records broken (most consecutive wins on the road).

3rd Time's a Charm! Take THAT, Cowboys!
Wooooo hooo.... Giants pull out a win over the Cowboys!!!!!
New York really could use a Superbowl... the last time the city went to a championship was in 2000 with the Yankees. This is our best hope. With the Mets choking in September, the Yanks losing Torre, the Knicks worthy of being kicked out of the NBA, and Jets' abysmal season... the Giants are our only hope!
Obe 1 Kanobe!
Eli and the entire team deserves many kudos. They finally seem to have it together. They feel cohesive and to be playing like a real team. I don't know what's gotten into Eli, but I hope it stays.
He did today what his brother failed to do au jourd'hui, and oh boy I bet it feels good.
All I can say is I hope for a GiantsPatriots superbowl rematch!

The Gift of Experiences
As a Christmas gift to our parents, sibling, and each other, Sah and Stevers purchased tickets to the Giants-Patriots game a few months ago. As the promise of a historical game became more and more likely, the Kresses made the 5 hour trip to the Big Apple NYC. We took a limo out to the Jers and arrived an hour and a half early... yet ALL THE BROCHURES WERE GONE! Of course they are now on Ebay... anyway...
Decked out in Patriots gear I was sure that we were going to get endlessly heckled. Despite a few "Brady sucks" calls, there were a ton of other Patriots fans and we were equally praised for our gear.
The game itself was... well it was electric and legendary. It felt like a playoff game, and it was the best and most incredible game to attend. I couldn't imagine a better experience.

With NFL records broken, we witnessed 4 historical moments:
- most points in a regular season (589)
- most td passes in a regular season (50)
- most td receptions in a regular season (23)
- undefeated 16-0 regular season
The Giants played their heart out and I consider them to have won. Maybe not the game, but certainly the love and respect of the nation for going out there when they had nothing to gain. What an experience.
