Spanish Translations in the NFL

For all of you who may not know how to read "85" in English/numerics, Chad has changed his last name to Ocho Cinco for Spanish-speaking fans. And it's printed on his back so you can't miss it.

What Eve and 85 have in common

New fame is coming to the other half of these word paired names. First the infamous Pakman Jones announced he would no longer be Pakman. He will return to his birth givenname...Adam.

On the other end, Chad Johnson wants to shed his birthright and change his name to Octo Cinquo. That's right. 85 en espangol. I can see the tombstone now:

Here lies Octo Cinquo,
Vaguely remembered for his football skills,
Notorious for his pathetic attempts at rebellion.'

The New TO?

Is Chad Johnson the new TO? My gosh buddy, have some respect. You're making Tiki look good for waiting until after retirement to trash talk his team. At least Palmer is man-ing up with his comments to the media.

But the latest is that Coach Lewis is calling Terrel Ow- I mean Johnson's bluff. Says go ahead and sit on the bench for the season! This is better than reality TV.

"I've stated our case with Chad," Lewis said. "He has a contract through 2011. He's stated without an opportunity to go to a different team and a new contract, he wasn't going to play. I think he's a man of his word and says he's not going to play, so don't play."

I hope he sits on the bench and they go to the superbowl without him. I think Cinncy is too stubborn to trade him. I love football drama, don't you?

Football or Boxing?

Is it reallllly possible that Chad Johnson actually punched his coach in the face, shattering a glass case etc. and it hasn't hit the news until now? I mean, with so many supposed-witnesses... how could something like that not leak until now?

Although it does look like things got heated? I'm sure a player could not go unpunished after assaulting a coach and I'm sure that Chad Johnson is a perfectly well-behaved and controlled gentleman.
