NFL & The Republicans Compete

September 4th will be the day that Americans will decide! Will I turn on NBC at 8:30 to watch the Giants vs. the Redskins for the season's opening game... or will I watch the Republican Convention and stay up-to-date on our country's future??

For many it would be any easy decision.

But in fear of learning the true nature of our country, the whole conflict may be called off. No, I don't mean that there would be no football (that's not until 2011 - read below!!) but the NFL is considering moving the game back to a 7pm start.

More to come on this situation on Monday. :)
No Football in 2011?

This weekend is the gathering of the NFL owners in sunny Florida. Of course I was wondering...what will they be talking about. So as I checked NFL.com on this Saturday morning, the headlines disturbed and perplexed me greatly:

"Owners meetings could foreshadow labor strife"

With the salary cap, and a set percentage for the players, I always thought of the NFL as balanced, fair and well-put together. But that seems to not be working for the owners. And now there seems to be a chance they are back-peddling out of that deal... Read this article to understand the situation and let me know if you're worried. Often very gullible, I totally am freakin out.

Sexy Rexy

When I google Sexy Rexy, the top two links are Wikipedia page for Rex Grossman and a blog. However, thanks to Sean Davvy, I've been informed that infact the name "Sexy Rexy" was first used in the movie Empire Records for one of the main characters, "Rex Manning". Anyone else find it ironic that the character's last name was Manning? Anyway, that's the update! Thanks for sharing Sean!

Here's a picture just for fun.

Football or Boxing?

Is it reallllly possible that Chad Johnson actually punched his coach in the face, shattering a glass case etc. and it hasn't hit the news until now? I mean, with so many supposed-witnesses... how could something like that not leak until now?

Although it does look like things got heated? I'm sure a player could not go unpunished after assaulting a coach and I'm sure that Chad Johnson is a perfectly well-behaved and controlled gentleman.
Sexy, Rex-y Move-Over

First let me say, I don't know who first created the nickname "Sexy Rexy" because I don't think it applies. Second, according to the Boston Globe (who heard it from a In Touch Weekly)... the word on the street is that the one, the only Tom Brady has been offerd $1 million dollars to pose in his underwear for Calvin Klein.

So instead of offering an opinion that could very well get me in trouble, I rather pose a few questions...

Do you admire him more or less now? More attractive or gay? Is it cool that he's gotten the offer over Peyton, or is this the first step in becoming more like Peyton with all the endorsements and commercials? But most of all...

Will you buy Calvin Klein underwear now?

The Ayanbadejo's

Brendon Ayanbadejo is the younger brother of former Ravens fullback, who played for Baltimore's Super Bowl championship team.

Do I really need to say more?
Kearse Comes Back

Jevon said he feels at home in TN, playing for the Titans. Although not the most articulate player in the league, this Defense Rookie of the Year from 1999 is welcomed back! Maybe this means another Superbowl!
Do The Patriots Have Heart?

For all you Patriots fans out there, let me give you an idea what happens when you (a non-patriots team) envision playing the Patriots...

First, you are overcome with fear because you imagine Arnold and more machines stomping all over you with their talent and un-touchable-ness.

Second comes the denial about your first feeling.

Third, you pray and dig up every inch of faith you have in your team. You can only win with absolute determination and a little bit of luck.

When teams with "less talent" pull miraculous wins that are (from a numbers stand-point and a forecasting standpoint) unlikely... it's **perceived** as having 'heart'. I'm talking of perception... as in, marketing. Branding. Perception.

But that's not to say that The Tin Man can't have heart. We've all seen the Patriots come from behind. We've all seen the team come together and support eachother when someone is having a bad day. You can't go 18-1 without having heart.

But what happened the first Sunday of February? Would is it possible the Giants demonstrated more "heart" that day? Is it just that Brady was injured and couldn't move well enough in the pocket?

I blame Giselle.

PS. I'm looking for an actual answer.
Baseball Fantasy... not to Baseball Fantasy

Yahoo recently sent me an update about the upcoming Baseball Season and encouraged me to sign up for Fantasy Baseball... I feel like since I'm not a huge baseball fan it might be a waste of my time... but it's a good way to learn... eh.... what do you think?
Titans Crumple...r!

woo hoo, the Titans just signed my favorite TE... Algae Crumpler. Goooooooooooooo Titans! Now if we could use up that cap and find a few good receivers, maybe Young could have a good season again.
Pointless Vantage Point

Admittedly, I'm being harsh with my title. Although the script was absolutely cheesey and the acting at moments was laugh-able... Vantage Point was one of the few advertisers who meant what they said when they said it the same event from 8 different perspectives. Either way I was highly entertained. But if you miss this point, you've not missed much.
Untraceable, Unmemorable

Actually, it wasn't that bad. I liked the movie. It was entertaining. 7 out of 10. A little grusome. Interesting message. Overall, a good movie to rent. My type of movie totally. But not something I'd remember to recommend.

The Old Man Retires and the World Cries...

So... year after year Brett left everyone in 'limbo' for days as he debated whether he was going to retire or not. And every year... low and behold he's still gonna play!

Finally a year I heard very little excitement or anticipation about 'omg, is brett going to retire'... all of sudden he is retiring! What happened Brett? Did you not get enough media attention and you had to do something that would make a bigger splash than Randy Moss, the Cowboys and all the draft moves?

But in truth, I think it was smart for Brett. He's looking out for #1 and rather than die off in the next few years with a declining performance, go out while ahead! Not sure it's the best thing to happen for the Packers, but that's not his problem. And for the rest of us non-packers fans, it reduces the threat the GB posed. One less team I have to worry about.
Great personal career... it's too bad you refused to train your back-up quarterback. Now what will your beloved team do?

Big Ben Gets Big Bucks
So this guy, who's like, my age signed over $100 million dollar contract this week... Wow. I guess he's good... I never thought he was that good though. Stevers pointed out if you ignore his concussion season, he's had high-performance otherwise... I guess.

If you had asked me if I would have paid over $100 mill for Ross-is-burger, I would have never said yes. Pittsburg fans - i hope you like this dude because you're stuck with him for at least the next 8 years!

Well, I give him props for having a blog.... but it'd be nice if he could post something about his latest contract! HELLO!!!!!!!!!???
PS. Yes, that's a picture of Ben's arm.
Patriots Fans Breathe Easier Tonight

You were getting nervous this weekend, weren't you? I'm not just talking about all you Patriot's fans who feared losing Randy... but the rest of the country outside of Texas should have been shivering in your booties as rumors spread about Moss joining the... UGH... Cowboys!

That would have been... unbeatable. Thank Gosh that didn't happen!

PS> Romo, please leave the Cowboys so I can like you.
Combine! Come-bine! Come by!

It's that season! When all those College boys compete in drills and drills and challenges to demonstrate why they should be drafted and offered millions of dollars to play in the NFL.

If you're looking for the most exclusive and amazing coverage, I recommend visiting the NFL.com. Their video coverage and posting and updates is far beyond anything I've ever seen. Kudos to that Interactive Team!
Giants Won The Superbowl...??

Say what?? I was just happy they beat the cowboys... seriously, who'd thunk'it? I mean, what can I say? It was heart breaking for Patriots fans... I'm not even sure there are words to describe what an incredible Superbowl that was for history. I'm sorry to all you Pat's fans (ie, 90% of my friends) but I had to attend the Giants' Day Parade. Gooooo Giants!

PS. That will not happen again for years.
