Pointless Vantage Point

Admittedly, I'm being harsh with my title. Although the script was absolutely cheesey and the acting at moments was laugh-able... Vantage Point was one of the few advertisers who meant what they said when they said it the same event from 8 different perspectives. Either way I was highly entertained. But if you miss this point, you've not missed much.

No Country For Old Men - Or People Who Don't Understand the Title

Well... i'm not really sure what to say about this movie. It was fun, "very violent", and bad-ass-esque... however, I still don't get the title or the point of the movie.

I felt the more prominent theme had to do with 'luck' however the title indicates we should have been looking at the old-man being out-mastered theme. Maybe if I read the book i'd understand better - but who has time to read? :)

Perfect Stranger, Perfectly Horrible

Hallie Berry... how did you ever win an Academy Award? Overacting her role... Bruce Willis' execution of such a bland character, 'Harrison Hill', failed to save or add to this film. While most of the time I was occupied with trying to figure out what other movies Giovanni Ribisi was in (I decided Boiler Room was the most memorable one)... the producers/director/movie makers were busy trying to make various characters "suspicious".

The movie was so bad, I actually thought that there was the possibility that these clearly "suspicious" characters would probably be the actual killers. Everything else was being overkilled, that's for sure.

In the last 5 minutes, the movie redeemed itself slightly with a decent twist ending... Something that in a well-acted movie you might have guessed, but the rate everything else was going made you assume the ending would be equally obvious.

C+ rating at best.

American Gangster ... They ARE who we Thought They Were

Last night stevers and I went to a late night rainy showing of American Gangster featuring Denzel and Mr. Crowe. We had debated for a while whether to see the Lions/Lambs Tom Cruise movie or the American Gangster. Ultimately our decision was made based on the times available for each and we saw the latter.

This morning i sit here with the voice of Denny Green running through my head 'THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE'... and the Coors Light Commercial isn't even on. But that's pretty much what I felt about the movie. I expected it to be a good movie (it was) and I expected the actors to play their roles as they did. The plot was to be expected and overall it was a good movie. I never cried, I never gaspes. I did grimmace a few times from the violence but ... I don't think you need to crown'em.

The Scoop on Scoop...

Okay, cheesey title. But Stevers and I just finished watching the Woody Allen movie featuring Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johassan.

Our conclusion? It was cute.

Although not normally a huge Woody Allen fan, I thought the script was fantastic. Some great lines and enjoyable dialogue. Definitely quotable.

Scarlett? Less than stunning red. I just couldn't buy it. As Stevers would say "I'm not buying what you're selling, Liang". Minus the Liang.

Predictable but worth adding to your netflix.

PS. Stevers would like to know if anyone else thinks that Scarlett Johassan looks EXACTLY like Christina Applegate. He can't tell them apart. What do you think?

Children of Men

Thought provoking, intense, great. Rent it from Netflix or check it out on IMDB for more info.
