Lesser of Two Evils

I am not a Greenbay Packer Fan. In fact, I always disliked the team (mostly due to their Brett-Favre factor). But in less than 5 days, I will unfortunately have to hope for their success in the Superbowl.

And if you need a reason to support the Packers, there is one compelling one: the Steelers' quarterback is a womanizer/rapist. If Big Ben had only been accused once - maybe I'd let it go. But a pattern of accusations... too much of a coincidence.

Since Brett is no longer with Greenbay, I guess I should reconsider my feelings towards their team. The Packers are the only team publicly traded and that's pretty damn cool. I'd buy a share of the team, even if I'm not a fan just to say I owe a football team. (bday gift anyone?)

Rematch-Rematch-Rematch

In playoff week 1, it was kinda crazy that Dallas had to play the Eagles in back-to-backs... AND... the Jets had to play Cinncy in back-to-back weeks... AND... Arizona and Greenbay... It was a little odd to say the least.

In two of three situations, the original winner won again... but the exception here was Arizona and let's be honest, Arizona typically is Jekyl and Hyde.

Soon, we shall see another rematch (although this time a few weeks spread apart)... Indy vs. NYJ's in a big championship! Last time the Jets won (since Indy benched Manning most of the time).

Finally!!!! A game where both teams will actually try to win.

The Old Man Retires and the World Cries...

So... year after year Brett left everyone in 'limbo' for days as he debated whether he was going to retire or not. And every year... low and behold he's still gonna play!

Finally a year I heard very little excitement or anticipation about 'omg, is brett going to retire'... all of sudden he is retiring! What happened Brett? Did you not get enough media attention and you had to do something that would make a bigger splash than Randy Moss, the Cowboys and all the draft moves?

But in truth, I think it was smart for Brett. He's looking out for #1 and rather than die off in the next few years with a declining performance, go out while ahead! Not sure it's the best thing to happen for the Packers, but that's not his problem. And for the rest of us non-packers fans, it reduces the threat the GB posed. One less team I have to worry about.

Great personal career... it's too bad you refused to train your back-up quarterback. Now what will your beloved team do?

Throw Your Heart Over the Wall and Your Body Will Follow

Tonight the Giants had more heart than Greenbay and are consequentially superbowl-bound. In a fist-clenching game, sitting on the floor as close to the TV as possible, I think I almost had a heart attack.

My first outrage was at the "incomplete pass" call on Burress during the last 2 minutes of the first half. The booth should have at least reviewed the play. The ground caused the ball to come loose. That should have been a complete pass on the 1 yard line.

The second outrage for me came when Tynes misseds the damn field goal with 8 minutes left in the half. Bejeezus.

The third pulse-stopper was during the interception-fumble resulting in a first down on the 20 for GB! That just seems wrong.

The fourth heart attack was the second missed field goal with 3 seconds to go. Are you kidding me???????

The fifth came when Eli called "tails". You ALWAYS call heads!

Fortunately it all worked out in the end. Fantastic job by the Giants. Beautiful throws, plays, and historic records broken (most consecutive wins on the road).

And we're going to the SUPERBOWL DARNIT!

TD's Weren't the Only Thing Brett Was Throwing

Reason# 2 billion 4 thousand sixty five hundred why I LOVE FOOTBALL. For most other popular sports, they'd never play in the conditions that plagued Lambeau field yesterday. The snow storm on the field brought back memories of my days in Worcester, MA where it snowed from October through April.

Although Hasselback and his Seahawks kept the game close for the first half, the Packers took over and railed the Seahawks' defense with a final score of 42-20.

Even though I can't find a clip right now of Brett throwing snow balls at his own teammates, it happened. Maybe if you watch SportsCenter, you'll catch the clip.

Packers Gobble Up Detroit


While most Americans spent last Thursday in a gluttonous state of food stupor, d'em Meat Packers captured the Lions like they were trapped Turkeys. Although the final score was 37-26, it was a slaughter for all intensive purposes.
