Some might argue that having your wedding reception at a football stadium is taking 'fandom" too far... and they might be right. But the reception component of a wedding is a party.... and throwing a party in a fun event space like a stadium doesn't seem so crazy to me. But I'm biased.
HOWEVER, strategically naming your child after the NY Jets is undeniably taking the whole fandom thing too far... not to mention the very idea that the curse of the Jets was due to your birth is a bit narcissistic, don't you think???
Read the article here. PS. Newsflash, you were not the only person born in 1970. PPS. Naming your child JETS was futile because the Jets didn't make it to the Superbowl, let alone win it...

Superbowl Ratings Not Optimal for CBS
I believe this year CBS will be the broadcasting station for the Superbowl. This lucky network however could have had bigger ratings if things had turned out differently during the NFC championship game this week.
CBS execs were routing for the Vikings... and not because they like Adrian Peterson. They were routing for Vikings because the head-to-head matchup of "Peyton Manning vs. Brett Favre" was predicted to bring in higher viewership and higher ratings.
Their worst case scenario? Jets vs. Saints.
Hey, you can't win them all.

Rematch-Rematch-Rematch
In playoff week 1, it was kinda crazy that Dallas had to play the Eagles in back-to-backs... AND... the Jets had to play Cinncy in back-to-back weeks... AND... Arizona and Greenbay... It was a little odd to say the least.
In two of three situations, the original winner won again... but the exception here was Arizona and let's be honest, Arizona typically is Jekyl and Hyde.
Soon, we shall see another rematch (although this time a few weeks spread apart)... Indy vs. NYJ's in a big championship! Last time the Jets won (since Indy benched Manning most of the time).
Finally!!!! A game where both teams will actually try to win.

Bizarro World
Bizarro World is the time and place where the NY Giants look awful in the last few games of the season... and the Jets (without really trying) make it to the AFC Championship...
WTF?

The Jets????
Well the Jets have taken the lead of the AFC East... which is probably the craziest sentence I've written all year. Someone must have fed the pigs red bull and gave them wings. YIKES.

Brett the Bully
Apparently Brett Favre has always been a bully and still is. His latest antics have included killing an animal, putting its rotting carcass in a bag and leaving it in Eric Barton's locker.
HEY BRETT - STOP KILLING ANIMALS. THIS IS NEW YORK. WE DON'T HUNT HELPLESS ANIMALS HERE. JUST PEOPLE.
What a loser.

No More Hangin Round Chads
With BF starting at the Meadowlands, the need for rhodes scholar Chad Pennington is nil. Of course there are maybe 2 or 3 teams who actually sucked worse than the Jets last year... and that included the fins. So, Bill Parcels being the sharp guy he is, realized Chad haaaas to be better than ... who do they have again??... yeah. Exactly.
The New York B-R-E-T-T-S
These updates have been long overdue. Its that time of the year and I'm back! Here's some food to get you started.
So by now if you haven't heard that Favre, after playing a game of chicken with the Packs, has been traded to the J-E-T-S. I think Brett will enjoy the NY media at first. He loves attention... but when they lose a few games in the first month, his talent and decisions will come under quick and harsh criticism. Worse than his old grand-ole daddy could prepare him for using a thousand lashes with a wet noodle.
Will brett survive the NJ air, playing 'home' games at another teams' stadium... I doubt it. He'll retire very quickly.
Again..

In My Opinion, That Sucked
Ahhh how I love your quotes Jim Mora.
But I'm of course not talking about the Saints, but rather the JETS.
Yesterday afternoon Stevers & I took the Babyman & Bnard to the Jets-Chiefs game as a Christmas gift. After snapping at our car driver (who was new, retarded, and not listening to me) we marched to the top of the stadium to our seats.
The Jets scored early in the first quarter and despite a field goal from each team in the first half, it was a horrendously boring game. The icingon the cake was the ice that pelted us from the sky at a rapid rate (also known as hail)... which turned worse when the melted ice soaked everything during the second half.
Cold, wet, and neither team going no where.... the only saving grace for the game was the company.
And in the last 5 minutes the stupid Chiefs score a TD and TIED the game... The stadiums by that point were empty and neither team seemed to want to win. As Bnard said, Herme Edwards, wasn't it you who said YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. Apparently this rule doesn't apply to the Chiefs.
Finally after three possessions in overtime, the Jets kick a field goal... they start running off the field, we celebrate, we cheer! Horray! Let's go home... and the official announces HOLDING on the offense, 10 yard penalty... Mike-I-Miss-Point-Afters-Nugent must kick an even harder field goal.
I was convinced we'd become ice statues stuck to the seats... fortunately even Nugent wanted to go home and kicked the game winning field goal.

Do Jet Fans Even Care?
Last Sunday, I attended the Jets-Browns game at the Meadowlands. As a Christmas gift, I brought my girlfriends who are less-knowledgable about football and had never been to a professional game.
While the game wasn't exactly 'exciting' - at least not as exciting as today's Pats-Jets game - the crowds were even more apathetic, instead:
making paper airplanes and competing to fly them onto the field
singing some bizarre cheer that said something about OJ killing his wife
shouting J-E-T-S jets, jets, jets
watching the cheerleaders
had more excitement at the half-time 5-year mini football game
moving seats to trade-up to better ones
Oh yea... and the Jets sucked so bad. I mean they were practically given touchdowns and they gave them away. It disgusted me. We left when it started hailing. No offense to you jet-fans.
New Classic Referee Quote
Every once in a while the refs say something completely and totally unexpected. A few years back it was the "Flag-Fell-Out of Pants" penalty... and today during the Patriots-Jets game it was:
Delay of Game due to snowballs being thrown on the field
My new favorite type of delay. Snowball fight.

Reason #5367 Why I'm Not a Jets Fan
Aside for the butt-conquering, back-riding from the Cowboys Thursday... this is virtually the same atmosphere and impression of Jets Fan I had 15 years back when I first attended a Jets Game...
I'm not sure why its taken the NYTimes this long to catch on, but . Read it and puke. I did.
